From ancient ruins and sun-soaked beaches to vibrant nightlife and mesmerizing music, this three-part adventure aboard the Royal Caribbean Grandeur of the Seas has it all. So, let’s dive in and see where the bubbles take us!
Our journey began with palpable excitement as Nicole and I boarded the magnificent Grandeur of the Seas from the Tampa cruise terminal. This was our first cruise since the COVID-19 pandemic, making it a milestone for us. After a seamless embarkation process, thanks to the stellar staff at Royal Caribbean, we indulged in a sumptuous meal at the ship’s elegant dining room, setting the tone for the adventures ahead.
Our first full day was spent at sea, packed with activities ranging from water aerobics in the main pool to music trivia contests and delightful dining experiences at specialty restaurants like Izumi, Chops Grille, and Giovanni’s Table. The ship’s pristine condition and vibrant atmosphere left us in awe, truly living up to its name.
As the sun painted the horizon with hues of gold, we docked at the captivating port of Cozumel, Mexico. Stepping onto the pier adorned with statues and stories, we decided to explore Cozumel on our own terms. Navigating through bustling streets, we indulged in shopping delights and returned to our floating haven early, giving us the ship almost to ourselves. Engaging in a friendly Harry Potter trivia challenge and practicing our dance moves on the deck, our day in Cozumel was a tapestry of joy and discovery.
Our next port of call was Roatan, Honduras. Partnering with Shore Excursions Group, we chose a private beach excursion. Picture this: a secluded stretch of white sand, the gentle rhythm of the surf, and a freshly harvested pineapple cut before our eyes. It was a day of pure relaxation and serenity.
In Belize City, we opted for a private island escapade to Geoff’s Caye. Sailing to the island, we were greeted by dolphins frolicking in the waves. The island offered a sumptuous lunch featuring fresh pineapple, grilled lobster, and ribs, accompanied by the simple joys of Belizian life. The locals taught us the art of living in the moment, making this a truly unforgettable experience.
Our final port of call was Costa Maya, where we explored the legendary Chacchoben ruins. Our tour guide, a true storyteller, unveiled the captivating history of the Mayan people. The ancient structures, playful monkeys, and intricate architecture left us in awe. Following the exploration, we relaxed at a beach resort, indulging in authentic Mexican cuisine and soaking up the Caribbean sun.
As our cruise concluded, we returned to Tampa for a night of music and memories. We were thrilled to find that Matchbox 20 had a concert scheduled on the very day of our return. The stars aligned, and we embraced this serendipitous gift, enjoying an unforgettable night of music at the Mid Florida Amphitheater.
