The Bubblehead: Hey there. Voyagers. Welcome to a vibrant new episode of Bubblehead Talks Vacations. Where today we are donning our most colorful attire to delve into an exuberant world of carnival. I'm Dave Bryant, your guide, the festivities also known as the Bubblehead and together we'll explore the rich tapestry of the global extravaganza. The Bubblehead: And then watching Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant, do what he did that game going to overtime. As a football coach hearing after the game, some of the stuff where the 49ers players didn't quite understand the overtime rules kinda irks me, it is what it is, 

The Bubblehead: but coming off that high, we've got Valentine's day. Today, so happy Valentine's day, the day this is coming out, I'm recording this a little early, but it's going to be Valentine's day. Happy Valentine's day, everybody. Make sure you taking care of those that are taking around you. Make sure you wish everybody happy. Valentine's day. Have a great day, everybody. Got some pretty good plans set up for me and Nicole. So there'll be a lot of fun. Whether you're wrapped in the warmth of love or celebrating love and friends and family. Sending all of you, a bouquet of joy and happiness. On this day of affection. 

The Bubblehead: I got a cool thing going on this weekend. As some of you guys know over a decades worth of [00:04:00] coaching, a high school football. Had the opportunity to be a head coach. A couple of times I've been a coordinator on both sides of the ball. Really love coaching high school football. It's, a lot of fun. It allows me to stay young, which is something that a as I'm advancing in age. It's something I really strive to do. 

The Bubblehead: Here in South Carolina. They have a very, very active football coaches association. And they're going to have a coaches clinic. This weekend, both Friday and Saturday at Myrtle beach. Through some conversations with them, they've asked me to come and talk. Not really talk, but set up a booth and talk about Bubblehead Vacations. 

The Bubblehead: When it's had me really think about how I could help. A football coach. And I came down to, I could help a football coach with team travel because although. Normally, and I'll be honest with you. I was guilty of it too. Running as a coach. I don't want to burden anybody on my staff as a coach to try to plan if we have a long road trip. We [00:05:00] playing on Friday night, you finish at midnight. You might not want to drive six hours or four hours. You might want to stay the night, wherever you're at and come back the next morning. You're going to ask a parent. Team mom, the boosters, somebody to set up that travel arrangement for you, but they have a different eye. Of what they're trying to get out of the hotel than what a coach would be trying to get out of the hotel. 

The Bubblehead: And so really got to thinking about I, could really talk football, talk about the things that need, not only that I could talk about the vacations that a football coach needs, the time periods, where he can actually break away with his family and get away. I kinda know what those are and understand that those might not be flexible due to dead periods or whatever. So I have a lot I can do to help some football coaches realize that I have an opportunity to talk to them about that this weekend. Really excited about it. We're going to call that. Team travel transformed. You're going to see #teamtravelsimplified. And #CoachsR etreats.[00:06:00] It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to it. Looking forward to just talking ball. What's going to be fun.

The Bubblehead: Now let's unfurl the streamers of history and trace the origins of carnival. Picture this, the ancient Roman street bustling with thew Saturnalia festival. The time was social norms were turned upside down fast forward to medieval Europe, where the traditions morphed into a pre Lenton festival, a boisterous period of indulgence before the solemnity of the 40 days of fasting.

The Bubblehead: These historical festivals evolved into what we call the carnival. That we know today. Cultural phenomenon, the dances around countries and continents for the Samba infused streets of Brazil. To the intricate masks adorning, Venetian faces. Carnival has become a global celebration of life. Resilience. And unity. 

The Bubblehead: Each carnival bears the soul of its people are reflection of history, heritage, and local flavor. Rio's carnival pulsates with the rhythm of Samba schools. Each parade, an epic tale [00:07:00] told through dance and music. Meanwhile, in Venice whispers, tales of intrigue and disguise. Where the anonymity of the masks allow for freedom or revelry. 

The Bubblehead: As we traverse the globe. We see carnival spirit and the Caribbean clips. So beats. The beach drone parades of new Orleans Mardi Gras and the vibrant costumes that paint the streets of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Bubblehead: And we head on over, across the pond to Europe. Venice's carnival is a spectacle of history and drama. With its masks, balls, and ornate costumes. This is where mystery and romance dance. Hand-in-hand along the canals. Under the shadow of history that's been celebrated [00:10:00] since the Renaissance. 

The Bubblehead: As we jet set across the globe. Again, each carnival hotspot reveals its own identity. New Orleans Mardi Gras bursts with jazz and beads. Trinidad and Tobago streets come alive with the sounds of Calypso and the Canary islands. Carnival is a festival Queens gala's yMusic groups known as murgas 

The Bubblehead: these celebrations are not just parties. They're a canvas for expression, resilience and community spirits. There were cultures, not just observed, but lived, breathed and danced. The Bubblehead: Consider to the small town carnivals. We're tradition meets intimacy. In Binche, Belgium, the Mardi Gras features unique Gillies and their wax masks and vibrant costumes at tradition dating back to the 14th century. These events offer a glimpse into the heart of community. Where every dance step and every note of music tells a story

. Let's not forget about the winter carnivals, like Quebec city up there in Canada, eh. Where snow and ice sculptures transform the landscape into a winter Wonderland. Proving that carnival spirit thrives, even in the chilliest conditions.

The Bubblehead: And in the spirit of discovery, why not explore the carnival of blacks and whites in Pasto Columbia? We're elaborate black and white costumes symbolize unity and peace. Or the vibrant festivals, a Goa India, where east meets west and a colorful celebration [00:15:00] of life. 

The Bubblehead: As we draw the segment to a close, I reminded of the power of carnival to bring us together. To celebrate our common humanity. Do art music and dance. That is what Carnival's all about. And although I have not been to a lot of carnival festivals in my life. I've been to a few. And the one thing that I have noticed that goes through all of them is that it's all about a celebration of life mixed with a lot of local culture and flare. It is a great time. To, be a part of something. And it's a great part of celebrating humanity, where we celebrate our differences and our likenesses. It's an amazing time if you've if you've really thought about doing it, I recommend it. 

The Bubblehead: Speaking of coming together, what better way than aboard, the Bubblehead, new year's Eve cruise this December. Into January. Imagine welcoming the new year amidst, the high seas. Surrounded by fellow Voyagers from our incredible community. 

The Bubblehead: And what's even awesome about this. Is I myself will be on board. [00:16:00] So if you're somebody that's been like, Hey. In the local world in the culture, trying to absorb as much as I can, trying to learn as much as I can from people. Carnival is just another example, an excuse.
